    coming out stories

It is a sign of your emerging adulthood that you are able to consider your parents’ needs and feelings as well as your own. You’ll probably have some intense thoughts while you prepare to tell your parents. You will probably find yourself asking lots of questions and reading anything you can get your hands on.

Some people might tell you to pick a public place, but you might want to think about how uncomfortable that might make your parents feel. It might intensify their negative feelings rather than give you a chance to talk. Although it might be easier for you to come out on your way out the door, being rushed probably won’t be best for you and your parents to actually work things out. This will probably be a pretty big thing for all of you to deal with, and you might want to think about how to make it work for everyone.
