    coming out stories

Opinions sometimes change over time, so gathering current information on your family’s attitudes towards lesbian, bisexual, gay, intersexed, 2-spirited, transgendered and transsexual people is a good idea. If you bring up the topic in a general way, you will usually get a sense of your parents’ thinking.

Testing the waters will give you general information, but it won’t be absolutely reliable in predicting how your parents will react to the discovery that their child is queer.
