Craftathon

Save the date!

Our fifth annual Craftathon will take place on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Sketch Working Arts (180 Shaw Street) in Toronto from 11:00 am – 5:00 pm.

Craftathon is our annual fundraiser where participants raise funds for LGBT YouthLine  by attending a day full of crafts and crafting workshops.

Missed last year’s craftathon? Here’s what happened!

We are looking for volunteer craft table leads for our 5th annual Craftathon!

We’re looking for experienced crafters who’d like to volunteer to facilitate a craft of their choice – either as a full-day craft or as a workshop!

If you’re eager to share your crafty skills AND support LGBT YouthLine, please contact us at craftathon@youthline.ca to tell us about yourself and your crafty ideas.

We’ll supply the space and materials; you provide the teaching! Ideally, this craft should take no more than 1 to 2 hours to complete and be something crafters can take home with them or continue at home. In the past, we have had paper crafts, screen-printing, and pennant-making, so we’re open to anything you can think of!

We will also provide you with volunteers during the event to help with breaks and any other assistance that you may need on the day.

Time Commitment:

Full Day (11am to 5pm): Craft Table Leads who participate for the full day will have a craft table/area (depending on type of craft) dedicated for their craft where Craftathon participants can stop by throughout the day.

OR

Workshop (1-2 hours): Craft Table Leads who opt for a workshop-style craft can hold one or more workshops at set times during the day.

Support provided:

Our Craftathon Committee will provide you with volunteers during the event to help with breaks and any other assistance that you may need on the day.

We will also communicate, and support Craft Table Leads in the weeks leading up to the event to finalize materials and crafting supply needs.

Why lead a craft table:

  • You get to share your love of crafting and creating with cool folks all in support of LGBT YouthLine and 2SLGBTQ youth across Ontario.
  • It’s a day of crafting fun (so many crafts, all in one space!)
  • There’s food! And lots of it!

Accessibility Notes:

We are working to make our event accessible to everyone who is interested in attending, as a Craft Table Lead or a participant.  Please note the following accessibility features of the event:

  • The venue is fully wheelchair accessible;
  • Washroom facilities are gender-neutral;
  • Food includes vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options;
  • Craftathon is a low/no-scent event.  Please help us by refraining from wearing perfumes, colognes, scented creams, sprays and other scented items that can aggravate allergies;
  • ASL interpretation is available upon request.  Please email craftathon@youthline.ca if you require ASL interpretation; and
  • There will be quiet/low-noise spaces available.

Please let us know if there is something you need to access the event that we haven’t already thought of – we’ll do our best to accommodate!
