Workers build trust with youth, families, and the community, and support them to find appropriate programs and services. The YOW team enhances and promotes the development of community based services and leadership opportunities for young people in the community. Youth Outreach, AIDS Committee of Durham Region
The Youth Outreach program is a dynamic, multi-faceted initiative that is two-tiered in scope. We provide free prevention intervention workshops to educate youth who are at risk of contracting HIV. Focusing on increasing positive sexual health behaviour by emphasizing condom use, communication and consent, the workshops aim to teach youth how to better navigate sexual relationships and drug use activities from a harm reduction perspective.
