On #IndigenousPeoplesDay, we celebrate Two-spirit people and all they bring to their cultures and the fabric of 2SLGBTQ community on Turtle Island and beyond! We recognize and remember the many deaths of Indigenous people as a cause of state-sanctioned violence. We encourage 2SLGBTQ Indigenous youth to reach out to us if you need support or even just want to chat. More than half of the Indigenous youth in our 2020 needs assessment told us that they don’t feel a sense of community, needing more peer spaces to connect with other Indigenous 2SLGBTQ youth, and spaces that respect and celebrate their cultural identities. Two-Spirit youth deserve to be recognized and celebrated for who they are. See the full needs assessment and our YouthOrganize resource on learning more about Indigenous communities at youthline.ca/publications. #Dare2Imagine #Day21

Today is #indigenouspeoplesday and we are celebrating two-spirit people and all that they bring to their cultures and communities both on Turtle Island and beyond! We recognize and remember the many deaths of indigenous people that have been caused by state sanctioned violence. More than half of the Indigenous youth in our 2019-2020 needs assessment told us that they needed more peer spaces to connect with other indigenous 2SLGBTQ youth, as well as spaces that celebrate their cultural identities. More than half of these indigenous youth who responded told us they don’t feel a sense of community. Two-Spirit youth deserve to be recognized and celebrated for who they are. #Dare2Imagine #day21 #2SLGBTQ #youth

In our last week, we’re focusing on 2SLGBTQ activism and history. Pride comes with a big history, and we need to know where we come from to know where we are going. Stay tuned this week and don’t forget to upload your images to Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram using the hashtag #Dare2Imagine and tag @lgbtyouthline! We’ll be pulling together some of our favourite images from this month in next week’s recap!

While our Pride photo challenge has been the main focus of this month, we’re also trying to hit our campaign goal of $50,000! We’re just about at 50% of our goal – can you help us get there? Donate here

We hope you’re staying safe and having a happy Pride!

XO, LGBT YouthLine
