Update on donation from Great Canadian Entertainment

Dear YouthLine community, 

We are incredibly grateful for all your support over Pride month this year. Pride is our busiest and most important fundraising time as a 2SLGBTQ+ organization. 

In the last couple of days, a story has been circulating in the news about a large donation to LGBT YouthLine. While we deeply appreciate the thoughtfulness and support of Lindsay Ell in choosing us as the recipients of these funds, we have declined the donation. 

The funding for this donation originated with Great Canadian Entertainment. 

As a community organization that is committed to Indigenous solidarity, we will not accept money from corporations actively involved in disputes with Indigenous communities. 

LGBT YouthLine supports the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation, and all Indigenous communities in having their sovereignty and leadership.
