LGBT YouthLine would like to thank NOW Toronto for highlighting our emergency fundraising appeal in a recent article.
“Supporting some of the most vulnerable youth in the province, LGBT YouthLine says it is facing a growing financial crisis” writes author Devon Banfield.
Over the past few years, declining government and corporate support have hit YouthLine hard. Rising homophobia and transphobia across Canada along with an increased demand for our services are causing further strain. YouthLine’s volunteers help support over 2,600 2SLGBTQ+ youth throughout Ontario each year. In order to keep operating for the next fiscal year, we need to raise $150,000 in the coming months.
“We just want to be able to maintain our commitment to being there for young people.“ says Lauren Pragg, YouthLine’s Executive Director.
So far, we’ve raised over $26,000, which is about 17% of our fundraising goal. It’s a fantastic start, but we still have to go.
